Teeth Straightening – Orthodontic Treatments

Teeth Straightening Cornwall

Braces: fixed or removable. Brackets versus clear Aligners.

We are offering conventional braces to be fixed on the teeth (metal and ceramic) as well as clear aligners to correct:  crowding. overbite, underbite, crossbite and other problems. From 6 -months smile to more complex treatments where the bite needs to be corrected or stabilized.
Our dentist Dr Nelz has 22 years of experience in Orthodontic Treatments. That includes early intervention treatments in children using active plates, functional appliances and fixed braces. These days he treats adults mainly for cosmetic purposes with fixed braces or clear aligners.

Cases treated by Dr Nelz

.

This young patient suffered greatly from the appearance of his lower front teeth. We removed a lower incisor and aligned the remaining teeth.

After a few months with fixed braces, the lower teeth are perfectly aligned.

More cases

Deep bite,  Protruded Front Teeth  (Tongue Dysfunction), Treatment with fixed braces over 18 months, fixed retainers

Before treatment: deep bite and tongue dysfunction. This is a difficult case as the tongue tries to push between the teeth during swallowing. This is called “Visceral swallow pattern”.
In this myofunctional disorder, the tongue thrusts against the front teeth instead of against the palate, especially when swallowing. This wrong positioning of the tongue can lead to an open bite.

This case had to be treated with fixed braces. We also addressed the tongue dysfunction with exercises for the patient and with fixed “tongue tamers” at the inside of her upper front teeth. The deep bite was corrected with reverse spee arches.

Final Result after professional cleaning and teeth whitening. The patient received fixed retainers on the inside of the front teeth to avoid a relapse.

Case 2: Crowding upper and lower front with a frontal open bite. Fixed Braces, Extraction lower incisor, Fixed Retention

Due to the tendency for an open bite and the issues such as crossbite, crowding and very dense bone we decided to treat this case with fixed braces. In order to avoid the overexpansion of the arches and opening of the bite, we removed a lower incisor (compromise case).

The treatment progressed well as the patient was very motivated and cooperative. Here the situation mid-treatment.

Note: ceramic braces upper and lower front.

Final Result after professional cleaning and teeth whitening. The patient received fixed retainers on the inside of the front teeth to avoid a relapse.
